Introduction: Feel Good is an anthology of stories about queer joy. The collection features stories from writers I admire, and I feel incredibly honoured to have a story included in the anthology. The entire book is available online at: afeelgoodbook.com
Here’s an excerpt from my story.
Everyone talks about how good the Amala in Ibadan is, but nobody talks about how horrible the Grindr is. Yes, these two things are on separate ends of the conversation, but if one must praise something about a city, they might as well mention the way it falls short, too. You have dodged a married man who wanted to fuck you in his guest toilet. You have fucked (and regretted immediately afterwards) a Yahoo Boy who vehemently refused your attempts at foreplay. Add that guy from Agodi GRA who lost his erection after exactly five thrusts. And the University of Ibadan student who went at it like a pornstar until you were sore. You didn’t come, he didn’t either, but he flopped down on top of you and said, That was good, right?
Wrong.

Brief notes about “The Mathematics of Hooking up”
The story is set in Ibadan, which is a city I love dearly. So many things changed in the draft, but one thing stayed consistent: Ibadan as the setting. Working on the story was fun too. I tried my hands on a number of styles and POV, before finally settling on this. I spoke about the process here: Interview with Olakunle Ologunro
PS: It’s been an eternity since I published something here. I’d like to blame it on life and everything, but I should also be honest and admit that I am not the best manager of my own time. Thanks to everyone who reached out to ask for something new, and to everyone who told me to take all the time I need. I am grateful to you all. I’ll try to be more consistent going forward, even if it’s not with new short stories, but with updates so you can be in the loop.
Thank you for sticking with me. Your presence is a gift I do not take for granted.
